Indie Showcase: The Last Girl

Indie directors, fight choreographers, and actors are creating some good martial arts related and old school inspired productions that are readily available for us-the kung fu movie loving audience. One such short comes from Spectacle Pictures ( also responsible for Ascended Masters) and is the focus of this week’s Indie Showcase. Director Jela Oba Okpara’s The Last Girl

Indie showcase:

The Last Girl (re-cut edit)

(courtesy of Spectacle Pictures)

directed by Jela Oba Okpara

action director: Chibi

starring Marissa Pistone,  Nick Den, Lincoln Centeio, William Joseph Hill

Plot:  A villain( Lincoln Centeio) and his evil sidekick ( William Joesph Hill) try to get the last girl on Earth while a hero ( Nick Den) will stop at nothing to save her.

Kung fu Content: fistfistfistfist

Fight choreographer Chibi once again bring the goods to the mano e mano fight between hero and villain. The fight has elements of the old school kung fu type style of fight; poses to stop the action and create drama, the last girl interjects for a brief moment, lots of hand techniques, body control, stance work and the smart use of acrobatics.  Actors Nick Den and Lincoln Centeio really showcase their talents and the post-apocalyptic scenery helps with the choreography.

Recommendation: yinyangspin-gifyinyangspin-gifyinyangspin-gifyinyangspin-gif

Be sure to watch this film. It has heart, a great fight scene, good scenery, and a little of the Western movie genre aspect to it. I can’t wait to see more from Spectacle Productions! for more info on this great short visit The Last Girl Facebook Page.
